McCallum Theatre, Palm Desert, CA Position: Senior Vice President of Development

The McCallum Theatre has initiated a search for a Senior Vice President of Development who will join a dynamic executive team and board in continuing to provide the resources for McCallum to serve its community as its premiere arts organization. This position works with McCallum’s executive and board leadership to plan and implement the company’s overall fund development program and will be personally active in attracting, cultivating and supporting major individual donors. The Senior Vice President of Development supervises a staff of eleven and reports to the theatre’s President & CEO.

The McCallum Theatre’s mission is to entertain and educate the public by offering a variety of performing arts experiences that reflect the diversity of people, interests, and tastes of the Palm Desert/Palm Springs communities and constituents served by the Theatre. The McCallum will offer an exceptional development professional the opportunity to lead, develop and implement a comprehensive resource development strategy to support McCallum’s mission, programs and continued financial success while becoming an active member of the vibrant Palm Desert/Palm Springs community.

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional, who enjoys creating and implementing innovative fundraising strategies and engaging on a daily basis with McCallum’s current and potential donors. The Senior Vice President of Development will bring significant expertise, strong leadership skills and a passion for fundraising to McCallum while demonstrating a history of success in raising major gifts and collaborating within large and complex organizations. They will have had demonstrated success in overseeing operational functions in similar development organizations and will have a history of leading and motivating a staff and board in meeting measurable financial goals. The successful candidate will also have a history of working productively with colleagues as a member of a senior management team in similarly complex and successful organizations.

McCarter Theatre Center, Princeton, NJ Position: Artistic Director

The Tony Award winning McCarter Theatre Center will be initiating a search for its next Artistic Director in the fall 2019. Prior to the transition to new artistic leadership, McCarter has announced that its current season will be dubbed “Signature Emily,” an homage to artistic director, Emily Mann’s lasting impact on the McCarter and the theatre profession as a whole. The highly anticipated series opens October 6th with Mann’s Gloria: A Life and will offer artists and works that are representative of Emily’s trailblazing career, embodying the powerful themes that have cemented her personal and professional legacy and influenced the American theater nationwide.

Throughout Emily’s long and distinguished tenure as director, playwright and artistic director, she has giving voice to women and people of color, embraced risk in pursuit of art that inspires social dialogue, discovered and mentored emerging talent, and championed inventive cross-company collaborations. We are delighted to be supporting the McCarter as they engage in the process of indentifying Emily’s successor and charting a future for the McCarter Theatre Center that is designed to both honor her legacy while seeking new opportunities to ensure the company’s next era continues to impact its constituents far and wide as has been its history for decades.

Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington DC Strategic Planning Initiative

The Shakespeare Theatre Company is one of Washington DC’s leading cultural institutions and one of North America’s premier classic theatres.  Having recently worked with STC to recruit internationally renowned director, Simon Godwin, to succeed Michael Kahn as artistic director, AlbertHall&Associates has been retained to support a strategic planning effort designed to map STC’s organizational strategies under new leadership.  Our work involves assisting STC in analyzing its current programmatic, financial and operational situation and assisting board and staff leadership in developing mission-centric strategies that align with the future vision that provided the foundation for attracting an artist and leader of Simon’s reputation to the company.  



Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, New York, NY Organizational Development Initiative

After supporting the SDC Foundation in recruiting Rebecca Hewitt as its Executive Director, AlbertHall&Associates has been engaged to support Rebecca’s on-boarding process and  provide advice and counsel regarding best practices for formulating the foundation’s fundraising and other income development strategies.  AHA will deliver services through periodic scheduled sessions to confer with and advise the Foundation’s Executive Director and its staff and Board as they move forward with implementation of the plans developed over the past year to strengthen and promote their mission to foster, promote and develop the creativity and craft of America’s stage directors and choreographers.
